Adjusted, not adapted at the door
We ask about support needs, sensory preferences and communication before the first session — so the session already fits when someone walks in.
About us
Care & Culinary is a registered NDIS provider on the Gold Coast. We run small-group baking and cooking programs where people build practical skills, confidence and friendships — one recipe at a time.
Our story
We began with a simple observation: a kitchen asks people to do a lot at once. Read a step. Measure something. Wait. Take turns. Handle heat safely. Clean up. Share what you made. Those are exactly the skills that make everyday life more independent — and almost nobody enjoys practising them in a classroom.
So we put them in a kitchen instead, in groups small enough that nobody gets lost, with facilitators who adjust the session to the people in the room rather than the other way around.
How we work
We ask about support needs, sensory preferences and communication before the first session — so the session already fits when someone walks in.
Everything is chosen because it transfers home: recipes that can be repeated, tools that are affordable, steps that can be done again next week.
Consistency is what makes a group feel safe. Participants work with the same facilitators, in the same space, in a predictable order.
Kitchen safety is taught, not assumed. Staff hold current screening checks and sessions are run at a ratio that keeps everyone supervised.
Service agreements, session outlines and progress notes are provided, so participants and coordinators can see what was worked on.
Both courses run at Helensvale Library & Cultural Centre. The same place every session means one less new thing to get used to.
Groups are kept small on purpose. If you are considering a spot, the earlier you get in touch the better.
