We run programs for people with disability, so this website needs to work for people with disability too. This page explains what we have done, where we still have work to do, and how to tell us if something does not work for you.
Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA — the standard Australia has adopted for accessible websites. We test the site against it as we build, and again whenever we make changes.
What we have done
- Colour contrast — all text is checked against the WCAG AA contrast requirements.
- Keyboard access — you can move through the whole site, including the menu, using a keyboard alone.
- Visible focus — a clear outline shows where you are on the page when using a keyboard.
- Skip link — the first link on every page lets you jump straight to the main content.
- Clear structure — pages use proper headings and landmarks, so screen readers can navigate them.
- Labelled forms — every form field has a label, and required fields are marked.
- Works on small screens — pages reflow to fit a phone without scrolling sideways.
- Less movement — if your device is set to reduce motion, the site respects that setting.
- Plain language — we try to write simply and avoid jargon.
- Large tap targets — buttons and links are big enough to press easily.
What we are still working on
We are honest about the gaps:
- Some photos are still being added. Every photo will have a text description.
- Any videos we add will have captions, and will not play sound automatically.
- We link to some other websites, such as the NDIS Commission. We cannot control how accessible those sites are.
Other ways to get information
You never have to use this website to get information from us. You can:
- call us on 0451 115 196 and we will talk you through anything on the site;
- email us at info@careandculinary.com.au;
- ask for information in another format — for example, read aloud over the phone or in large print.
If you need an interpreter, call the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) on 131 450 and ask them to call us on 0451 115 196. The service is free and available 24 hours a day.
